I am trying to cultivate a habit of reading the Bible and reflecting on what I'm reading. Why? Because I need to know God, I want wisdom to pass onto my children.
What better words of wisdom than what comes from our creator, our Saviour, our Prince of Peace? I will try to follow a Bible Reading Plan but the one I've chosen doesn't begin until April 1st.
Today I decided to read the Psalm corresponding with today's date - Psalm 27. This is my reflection:
Psalm 27:4 - One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I SEEK; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to SEEK him in his temple.
I have to SEEK him - through his word, through prayer, through worship.
Psalm 27:8 - My heart says of you, "SEEK his face!" Your face, Lord, I will seek.
Again, I need to diligently SEEK his face. This takes time and perseverance.
Psalm 27:11 - Teach me your way, O Lord; lead me in a straight path
How can I ask God for guidance if I'm not seeking him? I can't skip over seeking him. "You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you." (Jer. 29:13) If I seek him I will find him and when I find him he will teach me and direct my paths.
Psalm 27:14 - Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
Again, this is not a once a week, once a month, sporadic deal. I have to SEEK daily and not give up.
I pray my heart will continually say, "SEEK His face!"
